Are you planning on moving to an apartment, but find yourself a little confused on what to look for? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Rental properties can run the gamut as far as size, shape and price are concerned. This can turn what should be a simple search into an overwhelming undertaking.
If you want to make apartment searching a little easier on yourself, there are some decisions you can make in advance to help guide the process:
Trendy Spaces
Do I appreciate wide open spaces without walls, concrete floors and old, architectural details that give a place personality? If you answered yes to this, loft apartments should probably be on your apartment search list. As you look for an apartment, keep an eye out for these older, funky building apartments. You might also find yourself drawn to older homes that show up as rental properties.
Low Maintenance Home
Do I love the idea of a real, single-family home but abhor the work that can go along with it? If you said absolutely to this one, a townhome or condo might be for you. Townhomes and condos can give you all the square footage of a single-family home, but with much smaller yards and less maintenance to consider. Most townhome communities maintain the landscaping for you.
Urban Landscape
Is my idea of a “to-die-for” place one that has a great view of the city and is close to the center of things? Should this be the case, a high rise might suit perfectly. This type of rental property is generally located in the thick of things and will likely include some incredible amenities. Door men, front desk staff and other perks are typically standard.
I want Everything
Am I drawn to a wide selection of amenities at prices that are generally quite reasonable? If you answered yes to this question, a traditional apartment complex is probably the best fit. When you find a great location, the amenity list can be rather extensive. Some of the common perks found in “regular” apartments include such things as easy parking, tennis courts, laundry facilities, pools, workout rooms and more.
If you’re relocating to a new neighborhood, chances are you don’t want to settle for the first thing that comes along. To smooth out your apartment searching and find the best rental for you, it is very beneficial to decide in advance what kinds of living arrangements appeal to you. Each style has its perks, but only you know which amenities will make you feel most at home.

On my end, i like a home that is low maintenance, but in an urban setting that has everything i need for work and family. I’m not much of a space freak because it demands a lot cleaning time. I just like one that has enough space to fit my family and things.
Thanks for sharing a great post.
